Delatyed Right Failed

Postby ccsoft » Feb 24 04 9:34 am

HI<

I have a customer running the VPN only on win2000 Pro.
He is able to connect to the VPN, create a tunnel and access all the shares.
The problem comes when he tries to save anything, either in WORD or Access, he gets the error message "Delayed Right Failed".

Any ideas?

Thanks

"Delayed right failed" or "Delayed write failed" ?

I had a quick search on Microsoft's site, "Delayed write" will happen when "Enable write caching" is on for the disk and Windows loses the connection to the drive that contains the file that is being saved. (VPN disconnect?)

The workaround listed on Microsoft's site says turn off Write Caching.

Hi Pascal,

Oops.. I guess it is write... I just assumed it was a 'rights' thing !

Yes the customer had found this article as well. He checked and he does have the caching turned off.

Thanks

So he has caching off - is it a question of the VPN being disconnected at that stage ? (Or in the process of reconnecting ?)

Found the problem to be with the RWIN and MTU settings. The solution was to use the max figure for the TCP receive window but only 1350 for max MTU which recommends 1500.

Also here is an article that might cure a lot of issues with win 2k and xp.It fixed this problem.

Hope this helps!
