Server Error Via VPN Logon Failure :user account restriction

Postby Ging » Jun 27 07 10:01 pm

I have been going round in circles with this problem.

Installed wingate and works fine and can connect to all my workstations and server's apart from one. I get a connection to the VPN but if I try to explore the server in question I get the error

\\Servername Is not Accessible

Logon Failure : user account restriction.

I have tried installing the vpn server on the problem server with the same results. I cannot browse the server. Shares are in place etc.

Windows 2003 server . Any ideas ?

Did a google for this and the following came back:

Sounds like you have no password on an Account.

Either set a password or modify the Local Security Policy --> Security Options and disable the option "Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only"

Reference: http://www.mcse.ms/message637808.html
*It is for XP but XP and 2003 are very similar.

We don't have blank passwords and its for any username we try to use from the active directory that wingate has pulled down.

Since this is a Microsoft error, can you let us know what you have already investigated so the forum can try and help you more efficiently? i.e. if you type that Microsoft error into Google you will get 1.6 million matches - surely one of them will resolve it for you?
