Default password?

Postby Drmeister » Jun 29 04 3:52 am

I'm trying a trial copy of wingate VPN to see if meets our needs, but am having some difficulty setting up users.
After enabling the NT/2000 database and adding a new user with a new password, I synchronize the database.
However, when I re-open the users, the password has been changed to nine astericks, while my passwords are about 6 letters.
Is there a default password for demo copies?\

Thank you.

Hi there

If your using the NT user database then the password that you set for the particular user in the user manager of NT/2000 (not WinGate) will be used to validate users in WinGate Vpn.

The number of asterisks is not indicative of the amount of characters in your password. It is a common security practice (so people cant guess how many characters there are in the password) in Operating Sytems, security applications etc, that the passwords (and resulting asterisks) look this way once they have been set.
