I am evaluating the Wingate VPN only software prior to a possible deployment and I have 2 more questions:
1) When I give the software to my employees to install on their computers at home inorder to connect to the office, is there anyway to have an installation file that doesn't include the VPN server? Or at least doesn't provide the icons for starting and stoping? In other words a dummied down installation for non-computer type folks.
2) Say one of my employees uses ICS at their home - what are they supposed to do when it comes to installing and running the VPN client? I obviously can't expect my employees to alter their home setups *just* to connect to the office servers. Any ideas?
On a side note, I just installed the WinGate VPN trial on my home computer. And with the VPN server running started ICS and was able to start the VPN client and connect to myself. I don't currently have another comptuer that I am able to set the software up on to fully test it, but it seems as if the warning messages you get about not installing when ICS/ICF is running are really designed for the full WinGate program. Is this true, and if so any chances of a workaround or a new installer?
