Can't Install Qbik RIPv2 Client

Postby KurtDunn » Nov 01 07 11:39 am

I have downloaded the RIPClient.exe file, and read the appended Qbik RIPv2 Client 1 readme. In it, it describes using my command prompt to install the client, which can then be turned on/off using the command prompt or the 'services control panel.' After following the explicit instructions, I received no message of a successful install, nor could I find the RIPClient (or Routing Information Protocol Client, or anything else similar) in the Services Control Panel.

I'm running Windows Vista BTW.

Help?

Your problem is that you are using Windows Vista :). But on a more serious note, the way you register a service with vista seems to have changed so the tool doesn't automatically register itself as a service. I even tried manually adding it as a service in the registry but even then it doesn't work so there is definitely a bit of a compatibility issue there.

I did some google searching but I still haven't found a RIPv2 listener for Windows Vista yet. I am keeping my eye out though.
