Win Xp questions

Dec 28 07 12:48 am

Hi.
I have a few questions:

1) Can i install Wingate VPN Server on Win XP SP2?

2) If first are yes, VPN Server allow multiple connections or only one connection as win xp vpn services?

3) How many licences we buy for one server with win xp sp2 + 1 directly lan client connected (win xp) + 2 vpn client on internet connection (win xp)?

Thanks a lot

Hi Christian

1. Yes, wingate VPN works on XP SP2

2. the VPN server allows any number of VPN control connections. So any number of networks may join the VPN. If you mean how many local machines on the server's network can use the VPN, that is governed by the size of the gateway licence purchased.

3. you'd need a 3 user gateway licence (smallest available), and 2 single user licences (assuming the vpn clients you refer to aren't on the same network).

Adrien

About licences

Hi Adrien
Thanks for reply. One more question about point 3.
We have 4 pcs: 1 server and 1 pc (on the same network) + 2 pc on other network at 300 kms.
We need 2 single user licence? Because the pc on the same network are connected to the server.
Thanks again

The number of licenses depend on the number of client computers connecting through Wingate within the same period of time. So if you have two clients and they can go through Wingate at the same time, then you need 3-user license.
