Solution: ISA Server 2000 and WinGate VPN

Postby jamesc » Apr 22 05 5:08 pm

We had an Engineer who had problems with WinGateVPN (6.0.4) installed on an Microsoft ISA 2000 installation, actually SBS 2000 ( Small Business Server 2000 has ISA bundled ).

He could set up his WinGateVPN installation fine to participate with the local network, but he was not able to browse/ping the WinGateVPN/ISA 2000 server itself.

We found the following corrected his problem:

In the ISA Server Managment

1. Expand the Network Configuration in the left paine.
2. Left click the Local Address table
3. Delete each IP Address out of the right hand paine. (1 may not be able to be deleted, thats ok)
4. Then restart the computer

5. Go back to Network Configuration --> Local Address table
6. Right click and select "Construct LAT"
7. Clear the top check box "Add private range...")
8. Tick the IP Addresses required below
9. Apply, we expect you will be prompted to restart some services
10 Should now work, if not restart and test again.

This has worked with a multihomed server with an external router, as well as an installation with an internal internet connection.
