Losing Connection & 1 won't see files

Postby teros » Jul 23 05 11:59 pm

Facts:
I am still in test period. I have one host and 2 machines I am trying to connect.
Host and 1 machine are Win2k, the other is XP.
I have the XP machine working after a little work on the MTU.

Issues:
The second machine connects, and is recognized, but refuses to be able to map to any of the shared drives. Quoting "drive is inaccessbile" messages.
Every night, during the night, and occasionally sometime during the day I lose connection and the host has to be rebooted to regain it. My Norton AV runs during the night on the host, could this cause this issue? Any other ideas on losing connection and requiring a host reboot to regain it?

1. Can you set Nortons to not scan the WinGate directory?

The second machine connects, and is recognized, but refuses to be able to map to any of the shared drives. Quoting "drive is inaccessbile" messages.

2. a) Please explain the first machine and second machine. What OS, and which one is the Joiner (running the WinGateVPN software)
2. b) Does the first machine connect to the mapped drives?
3. Are the mapped drives that are returning drive is "inaccessbile" located on the WinGateVPN Host?
4. Are you able to use a UNC path to connect to the shares manually? e.g. \\192.168.0.1\myshare
5. Are you able to ping the servers IP address through the VPN?
6. If you can ping, can you do an MTU test as described here.
7. How is the local participation set on the WinGateVPN Host (server)? As shown in image below.

8. How do the participants in the VPN get an internet connection.
9. What are the participants internal IP addresses.

Sorry for the delay, got a trojan on joiner1 computer and took a while to clean.

1) I have now set norton on both machines to NOT scan Wingate
2)Since the trojan issue let's drop back to just 2 machines defined as host and client. Host is Win2000k, joiner1 is XP Home. Host is on Cable modem w/firewall, appropriate ports opened. Home is on DSL behind firewall, appropriate ports open.
Since trojan issue on joiner1, also coinciding with a security update on host, I can connect, but can not explore the host. I can also not map drives.
3) Currently mapped drives not working.
4) I will check on this later today
5) Ping is succesful
6)MTU is okay
7)Local Machine Only

9)How do I find this?

And probably should not have touched the certificate either on the host machine but now and getting a message "The server's certificate fingerprint does not match what was expected"

I beleive changing the ssl # on the host to match client will fix previous issue , correct?

Also, ping is unsuccessful.

okay, can ping but says that packet needs to be fragmented below 400. What to do?

You would want to match the clients to the Hosts original one. To find out the Hosts original one, export the key, and open it up with notepad.exe; exporting the key is shown in the image below.

Can I get you to fill in a support ticket here: http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_a=tickets&_m=submit , and we will get this sorted for you. Can you also please indicate what your phone number is, and a good time to call.

If within protocol, It would be good to get your exported WinGateVPN key and a username and password, so we can connect in and do some serious troubleshooting while on the phone.

We will post a summary for the solution once completed.
