License for systems

Postby Cliff Dungey » Sep 01 05 4:16 pm

Hi all,
Please tell me if this is correct:
I have 10 laptop users.
I have 10 home users.
I have 5 servers.
All laptop users float around from office to office so I will need gateways at each server location.

Do I need to following?
20 single user license.
5 gateway license for 6 users

Hi Cliff,

We need a bit more info on your setup.

Will the laptop users be accessing the VPN by themselves or only when they're at one office or the other?

Think of it like this; each installation of WinGate must have its own license, so if a machine is a stand-alone VPN node then it will have WinGate installed, therefore it will require a license.

Likewise, if a machine on the VPN does not have WinGate installed it must be behind a WinGate VPN server, so that server must have a gateway license.

Clear as mud?

Hi Matt,
Each laptop user will be on site and on the road.

Can I not just have single user licenses on all PC except the servers?.

Can I have multiple laptop users in a offsite meeting connected at the same time and sharing the same resources?.

Thanks Matt.
Cliff.
