VPN ISSUES

Postby duedskiez » Sep 10 05 11:08 am

I currently able to connect the server and the clint but cannot browse any files or shares.... I am looking in essence to pass sequal traffic through the VPN tunnel.

when I actually click on the computer name it will not access the sharezs.... no error messeges, or anything of this nature. right mouse click and try - same thing... any suggestions?

1. Can you ping the machines IP address when the VPN is connected?
2. Can you access the share via UNC path? e.g. (Windows) Start menu --> run --> \\192.168.0.1\share
3. Do any of the machines that you cannot connect to show "Not Accessible" next to its name?
4. Is the Local Participation on the host set correctly?

5. Is NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled on the external adapter for this machine? Also, is file and print sharing enabled?
6. Are you running any security suites? Nortons, ZoneLarm, Mc Affe etc..

Some more troubleshooting is available at the bottom of this post: http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?p=16108#16108

Please let us know how you get on.

I can access nothing from direct connect to actually going through the path. i.e. \\192.168.x.x and still nothing. however the wingate tunnel states it is up and running.
Firewalls are turned off and it connects fine. what am I doing wrong..... followed this proceedure step by step to do this

I am correct in assuming the client has the ripclient and wingate VPN and the server just has a Wingate VPN?

Are you able to ping the remote VPN server?

Do any of the machines show up as Not Accessible?

If you expand out the Published Routes do you see any conflicts?

Are you using differnet IP subnets on both sides of the VPN?

The VPN Host, and VPN Joiner do not need to run the Qbik RIP2 clients. The RIP2 client software is used when the computers on the network that need to participate in the VPN don't have there default gateway set to the VPN server.

Can you please send an email to sales@wingate.com and we will troubleshoot this further; please reference this forum post. If you are able to provide us with a exported VPN key from the host and username / password, we can connect in and see if there is anything obviously wrong.

We can post a summary of the issues you faced in this forum post when fixed.
