Postby jerome_net » Aug 03 09 8:20 am

Hello

I need some help to configur wingatevpn, i'm using demo version, if i can succes to configurer wingate i will buy it

i will try to explain my problem, sorry for my english :

i want to acces from the site B to a NAS Server connected on a local network on site A

Site A :

Gateway : 192.168.0.1 it's a modem routeur with DHCP
PC A (XP) with WINGATE SERVER: 192.168.0.23 and name : compta
and i have a SERVER NAS with ip 192.168.0.2

Site B
Gateway : 192.168.1.1 it's a modem routeur with DHCP
PC B WINGATE CLIENT : 192.168.1.12

from my PC B i can ping 192.168.0.23 (i can't ping with the name "compta")
on explorer i can acces to the files with \\192.168.0.23

but i can't ping and access to the nas 192.168.0.2

i read on forum to install rip2, i did it on my client and i tried to create a route on PC B like it : "route add 192.168.0.23 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.12
but i have an error, it doesn't work

Anyone could help me?

Thanks

Hi Jerome,

WinGate VPN is essentially a router, so you need to tell your NAS server that it has to "route" through the WinGate computer in order to reach site B.
Check if your NAS server has an option to specify a default gateway, and if it does, set it to point to the WinGate computer (192.168.0.1).

My nas is a d-link DNS 323

It has a default gateway, it's the modem routeur 192.168.0.1
Did u mean i have to set it to 192.168.0.23 (ip of pc with wingate server)

But on site A, it's a local network with 5 PC, if i change the gateway of the nas, the others PC will not access anymore to it

Hi Jerome.

If your DSL router at Site A has a RIP2 listener, you can just turn that on.

Otherwise if you point the default gateway of the NAS to 192.168.0.23, it won't make it inaccessible to other machines on that subnet, since they won't be using the router to access it (since it's on the same subnet).

Regards
