VPN & peer-to-peer?

Postby Nanev » Sep 19 05 11:17 pm

Hello.

I evaluate Wingate VPN and seems it is perform well.

However I need a slightly different mplementation which I will try to explain below:

As far as I know in the VPN the whole traffic comes through VPN server.
I mean if client A must say something to client B, it says this to VPN server, which in turn says it to client B.
My concerns are that if the clients are relatively "close" each other (in the same metropolitan LAN for expamle) but VPN server is "far" from them the communication will be too slow and traffic too expensive.

My question is:
Is it possible for VPN server to act as "negotiator" of the connection between clients, coordinating exchange of initial information between them, after which they start to talk directly each other?

I need solution like this to cover our specific business needs.

Thanks,

It's not entirely accurate - Wingate VPN server serves the mediation role between the connected joiners so when client A want to say something to clinet B they communicate directly to each other.
