Vista laptop locks on sleep with Wingate VPN

Postby clarionite » Feb 11 11 3:25 pm

My Vista 32bit Laptop locks when attempting to go to sleep mode if Wingate VPN is installed.
Any suggestions on debugging/solving the issue?

HI Which version of WinGate VPN are you running?

I know some work was done on this issue a while ago.

Update: I purchased a new laptop yesterday. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Intel i3 processor. Same problem as the old laptop and windows vista. The machine won't recover from a hibernate. Doesn't look as if it ever truly hibernates. I think it locks when it attempts. I have to hard boot the machine.

3 of the developers at my office are unable to connect to our VPN with their laptops because of issues like this. Can we please get some assistance in solving this issue? It's been going on for over a year now, and I'm not getting anywhere.

I experienced the same identical problem ona ASUS VX6 netbook with Windows 7 32bit. I confirm Wingate VPN is not usable as it cause complete system lock when entering stand-by. A solution would be highly welcomed.

Hi

sorry for delayed response on this issue, we've been busy with many other issues, including latest beta 2 release.

We've recently got some new hardware to test this issue on, so we hope to have a resolution prior to final release of WinGate 7. WinGate 7 and WinGate 6 currently use the same network driver, so we should also be able to fix 6.x

Hi Adrien,

Will this version be a Wingate VPN update or will be announced in a different way? In case I would be willing to betatest it on my hardware if it could help

Hi

With WinGate 7 we have adopted a different approach to WinGate 6.x / VPN 2.x.

With WinGate 6 / VPN 2.x the user interface was different for WinGate vs VPN only.

Since we completely overhauled the user interface, and also put support in for hiding various bits of the UI with permissions, and support for driving access to all features via licensing, we decided not to create a specialised UI. Also because a lot of the new features are available for VPN.

Features are still controlled by license, and we still offer a VPN license for sale (in fact our licenses didn't change).

So WinGate 7 with only a VPN license looks a lot like WinGate 7. It is missing a few things like HTTP cache, and ability to create services etc. But you get things like:

Dashboard
Timeline
Events
Data
Policy
etc

from the new WinGate.

Regards

Adrien

p.s. I am seeing blue screens when the system tries to hibernate, so we are able to reproduce the issue here. Is that what others are seeing?
