Setting up Wingate with PIX firewall

Postby GSFernando » Oct 27 05 3:13 am

I Have a Wingate server with VPN setup behind a PIX 501 firewall. Although I tried opening TCP and UDP port 809 I can not connect to my VPN. I tried to Telnet but without success as I get a message which says "Could not open connection to host ..." Could somebody please help me to setup my VPN. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My current setup on server side is as follows:

Netgear 814 Modem --->PIX 501
/ \
Wingate Mail
Server Server

Hi G Fernando,

1. What operating system is the WinGate VPN Host on? If it is WinXP or Win2003, please make sure the Windows Firewall is off via the Services.

2. Do you have any other security suites / virus scanners are on that WinGate VPN Host? McAfee / Nortons / ZoneLarm etc...?

3. So you have opened TCP/UDP port 809 on the PIX501, and the Netgear DG814?

4. Wherever you are joining from, what connection method do you use? Direct connection, NAT, behind a proxy etc?

Sorry, I have managed to set the firewall settings myself. Thank you for your response.

Hi fernando.

Is it possible for you to send me the Pix config.

I have the same problem.

Thanks

Hi, Fernando

I would greatly appreciate if you can give us an advise on your setup - we might have other people having problems with PIX firewall, would be great to help them.
