Norton Internet Security 2005

Postby Refuge » Oct 28 05 2:26 am

Hi,

We successfully connected to our lan using Wingate VPn with no problems and all is OK for connecting. However, I can not access the machines with their netbios names if Norton internet security is running. If I turn it off it works fine.

With Norton on, I can get to the machines by ip address but not by name. All computers are accessible in the wingate control panel.

Any ideas?

I am sure it is just a setting in Norton which is preventing me from working correctly.

Hi

Sounds like NIS is blocking port 137 UDP. Do you have any settings you can configure to allow things in?

sorry I'm not very familiar with NIS.

There is a Knowledge base article on NIS, but looking at the voting on it, it may or may not help; please let us know if it helps you.
