2 joiners on a P2P LAN

Postby teros » Jun 25 06 3:11 am

I have two joiners on a peer to peer network (they see each other just fine) on a cable routered LAN. The host, across town is behind a DSL router.

I have one of the joiners working fine. On the other I installed VPN and can connect but not browse (witnessed by both the joiner and the log in the host). I have since uninstalled the VPN on machine two as I understand two installations on the same network can cause issues and one installation is all you need.

Question is this. How do I get joiner 2 to see the VPN through joiner one. I tried installing RIP2 on the second joiner but it did nothing noticeable.

What am I doing wrong or not at all? or, how do I resolve this issue?

Thanks

If host vpn installation is 192.168.1.1
and LAN Client (joiner2) is 192.168.0.2
and joiner1 installation is 192.168.0.1

From the LAN Client, can you ping the other side of the vpn?
ping 192.168.1.1

If you can, can you see the shares?
start - run - \\192.168.1.1

Have you tried stopping the windows firewall in the windows services on all computers you are testing with? Is it safe to for testing?

Can you see any routes to the 192.168.1.1 computer in the LAN Clients route print?
start - run - cmd - route print
