Connection timed out or Connection refused

Postby Really Frustrated » Jul 11 06 3:52 am

Everything was working fine. Didn't log in for about 2 weeks and now when I try I get "Connection timed out" or "Connection refused". I've check to make sure the firewalls are down, ports are forwarded, IP address is correct. Any ideas?

Looks like there is either a firewall on the server side which does not allow access to port 809 or whatever port you use for VPN or VPN server/service itself is down.

I've checked everything. Firewalls on server and client are disabled, IP addresses have been verified, port is forwarded. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure that the upstream router for your VPN server does not block these ports? Can you also check if the Wingate VPN server reports firewall hits when you try connecting?

If the router is blocking the ports, I don't know how. I am using a Linksys WRT54G router.
The firewall does not show any hits.

Ok, can you send me an email with the IP address of your VPN server? I'll try to connect from here and see how the connection goes. If you create a temporary user for me to log in, it'd be great.

Looks like your gateway blocks TCP traffic to your Wingate server - make sure that Linksys has port 809 (TCP and UDP) opened and relayed to your Wingate machine.

Here's a shot of my router port forwarding config.

Can you export your Wingate configuration and send it to me?

Hi,
Can you, please, make sure that VPN host configured correctly and its certificate is valid?

That image shows you have opened the Start / End port range for 1 / 809, I think it should be 809 / 809, if you only need the WinGateVPN Ports forwarded to that computer.

It would not affect the problem you are posting about though.

You have also said the ports are forwarding to 192.168.1.1 but in the image it is to 192.168.1.101.

That could cause a problem and may account for your connection refused and connection timeout error. Is your VPN Server set up with a static ip?

My mistake. The VPN server is 192.168.1.101
No, I'm using DHCP; but, the IP has not changed.

I've even tried creating a new certificate, to no avail.

Can I at least get an extension on the trial license so I can continue to work on this issue?
