VPN and Active Directory Authentication

Postby The Ricster » Jan 01 04 10:40 am

When using the VPN only and trying to setup users, I get the message that I can't use my W2K security to validate users. Is this really true!?.

Must I setup accounts in wingate that mirror my domain users. And when they logon, will they have access to the shares that they would normally have as domain users? In other words, will they be recognized by W2K as domain members, if the accounts have the same credentials?

Thanks for any assistance.

yes and no

that user database is only for the WinGate VPN client to connect to the WinGate VPN server, it does not affect how your remote workstations authenticate with your AD server....

however.... if you are using WinGate as well and relied on AD authentication for say the WinGate Internet Client, then this could be an issue. Is that the case?
