Conneted but cannot browse...?

Postby pheakavoin » Jan 07 04 10:58 pm

Hi, This is my first step for install and configure Wingate VPN.
I have read many good issues related to familar problem that I'm facing, but i still need all of your recommendation.

My firm is using Windows NT server 4.0 with 2 NIC with Wireless internet connect access.

-one NIC is for public IP, provided by wireless ISP.
-one NIC is for local LAN (192.168.0.57, 192.168.0.141)

And use Wingate with VPN built-in as internet proxy server.
I configured this Machine as VPN to Host. ( This machine is a PDC).
( IPs within the two NICs is published in VPN Host).

After that, I installed VPN only as VPN Join in windows XP from my home, by using Dial Up connection.
-one NIC is local LAN(192.168.0.12) This IP was published in VPN to Join.

The problem is All network client within VPN to host is seen at remote side by VPN to Join but not browseable event the PDC itself.

I'm hope to get all nice support from you all.

Good Luck!

WinGate VPN is a routing based solution. Both ends of your VPN (Host and Join) are on the same subnet. Unless you add static routes per machine on either end, it is recommended that you renumber one end (Probably the Joiner, as there's only one - renumber to 192.168.1.12)

Otherwise, when routing a packet to 192.168.0.x it will not know if it should go to the local network or if it should go across the VPN channel.

Hi, Pascal

I have chaged from 192.168.0.12 to 192.168.1.12 but it still have nearly the same problem. Below is an image showing the result after changing.
I still cannot browse any of the host side.

Sorry, i don't know how to attach the picture with this question board.
Hope you understand.

What else should I reconfigured, if the the problem still persist like that?

I had the same problem when trying to join my VPN by dial-up, and spent many hours trying to resolve it until I tried joining from the college LAN and it worked at once. I realized that the problem was that in WinXP NetBios over TCP/IP is disabled by default for dial-up connections. You need to enable it under advanced options of the TCP/IP properties for your dial-up connection. You also need to enable the Client for MS networks.
Hope this helps!
