Question about specific usage scenario

Postby avok » Jan 20 04 2:55 am

I am willing to use Wingate VPN, but I need to know if it will work at my specific scenario.
client < - > NAT < - > Internet < - > NAT & access firewall < - > VPN server
What ports must be allowed and forwarded in the firewall and/or NAT systems?

Hi Avok

WinGate will work in a NAt translated firewall scenario, and uses ports TCP 809 and UDP 809 by default, although these can be changed.
May I suggest you read our Whitepaper on WinGate VPN and visit our site to see how WinGate VPN can help you. You can read about it here.

GateKeeper

Thank you!

I have another question. The VPN server can only be administrered with gatekeeper from localhost. I marked the external interface as trusted in advanced options and yet without effect. I cannot connect to port 808 from nowhere except localhost.

Hmm, I played with the registry a little. In "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\Remote Control Service" I changed SpecificBinding value to the public IP of the local mashine. Then it was possible to connect from this interface, but some settings became unavailable such as Options -> Advanced.
Strange!
