VPN connection but no browse and hangs up

Postby fergal » Jan 24 04 7:07 am

Hi,

I am trying to connect the following

Office 10.10.1.100 (Win2000 server, Wingate Server version ??)
10.10.1.* Various office computers

to

Remote Network

Router with firewall 192.168.1.1 (Firewall configured for port 809) RIP V2 also enabled

192.168.1.36 My Laptop (XP Pro, Latest VPN client 1.2.2)

I can get the tunnel up and connected and see the office server and all attached computers however I cannot open or browse these

When the VPN is connected, I cannot ping for eg 10.10.1.100

The VPN connection will also hang up after about 2 minutes every time and then remain as host unreachable until around 15 minutes later when the whole cycle start again

Any ideas whats wrong?

Have you re-directed a UDP port in your firewall on the remote network to your Laptop? By default this is port 809. We use two ports for VPN, a TCP port for the control channel, and then a UDP port for data. These are customisable, but which ports you select you will need to redirect these ports in your firewall back to your laptop.

Regards
