Can NetPatrol detect current viruses active on my network?

How often are the definitions updated?

Yes it can - if the virus/trojan traffic pattern is registered in the rule base. For example, MSBlast has it's entry in the rules list and it will be detected.

Sorry for being terse - there's quite a lot of things that you can intercept with NetPatrol, but the main idea is that if there is a pattern that can be detected (say, a string "I AM MSBLAST VIRUS!"), then NetPatrol, seeing this string, raises an alarm.
