Problems with update and F-Prot antivirus

Postby loris » Apr 15 04 5:08 am

Hi,
we have just bought Wingate and Antivirus for Wingate.
I installed on a DC Windows NT Server 4.0 SP6a.
The server is also the primary antivirus server, it download the updates signatures for F-Prot and distribuite to clients.
Since I installed Antivirus for Wingate the server updates his F-Prot signatures but the clients doesn't get the updates.
Also the Antivirus for Wingate does not update with his scheduled jobs, i get an istantanious error in History tab.
I manually update the antivirus for Wingate with a tool in his directory.

is this product compatible with NT 4.0 or not?
What should I do
If I upgrade to Win2000 SRV it wil work?

thanks in advice

Couple of questions from a fellow F-Prot user.

1. Are you using the F-prot updater with the /admindistribute switch to
collect the updates?

2. What versions of Wingate & F-prot are you using.

We had a similar problem with (i think) wingate 5.2.2, this has gone
with 5.3.

We have a workstation (W2k pro) sat waiting to be told(triggered via the notification email from F-Risk) to run the
admin distribute update for F-prot (v3.14e). This unpacks the updates ready for
the clients (all windows) to update via the LAN. An earlier combination of F-prot and Wingate did result in corrupt update files.

Are you 100% sure the server is updating itself fully - have you compared the automatic downloads with a manual one to check?
