Files not scanned?

We are using Wingate 5.0.10 and the Visnetic Antivirus plug-in 4.4.3.0. It seems, that the internettraffic is not scanned by the AV-Plugin. We were able to download an eicar-testfile without being warned! What's wrong?

How did you download it? The AV binds to the Web proxy, the FTP proxy and the email. If you are using NAT but not Transparent Redirection, then the files will not be scanned.

We just downloaded the plug-in from "http://www.deerfield.com/download/visnetic-antivirus/wg/" and installed it. We don't use NAT.
