KAV & 6.0.1:995

Postby Nev » Aug 18 04 11:55 pm

Hi all,

Odd response after installing 995, when only minutes prior 6.0.1:993 was AOK!

See:

Current *.key file is present in the KAV directory.

Haven't rebooted as yet or reverted to 6.0.1:993 for result, will report back if it clears!

6.0.1 build 995 should not mess with your license keys for KAV at all. Those keys are handled independantly from WinGate - i.e. KAV itself takes care of them. WinGate does not try to read them, send them to the plugin, etc.

Did you do anything else, except for running the upgrade ?

Hi Pascal,

No 'nowt all otherwise' changed!

Installing 6.0.1:993 and reboot showed the licence to be acceptable, but now that I have just restarted my server same Syslog message!

Only thing that comes to mind, is that I removed the old Kaspersky.key when I dropped the replacement in the KAV dir, have just put it back and will see if it's essential. My thought was that it would be superceded by the one from the download page.

That should be alright - the new file should supercede the old one.

Have dropped the old one back in: dated Thursday, 27 November 2003, 12:20:44 all working ok.

Later I'll remove it and report back FWIW the impact of removing it!

Yup, any attempt with the Kaspersky.key [eg: Kasperskykey] and plugin is disabled / expired.

Must parse this file every load!

Rule, leave it alone if not broken!
