Kaspersky Key Problems

Postby jimwalker » Nov 04 05 8:56 am

We just purchased the Kaspersky 2.0 plug-in for Wingate 6.1, & can't
seem to update the key license. I have tried the suggestions on the
threads concerning the license. i.e. removed key in plugin folder
and downloaded the updated key registry from the Qbik website,
activated key (several times), reinstalled the software-
no luck.
Every time wingate reboots the same message is "the license key for kaspersky AV plugin for wingate is expired no functionality will be activated" Please advise!

unfortunately Kaspersky Labs enforces their own additional licensing system onto this plugin as well as ours. If the key we issued you activated, then you have fulfilled this part of it - as for the kaspersky one, if you are using the latest key file from our site, the only thing I can imagine is that there is still some hang-over registry key from an earlier one in your system.

we have a registry key you can delete if you want, can't post it here for security reasons.

Adrian,

Can you provide a phone number so I can call to get the information?
I tried, with no success, to re-install the AV plugin. I deleted the key in the license section of Wingate....etc.
We purchased the upgrade to 6.1, & the AV 2.0(new to our wingate),
from a company that can't offer support for it. I am tempted to get
our money back, and purchase the key direct off Qbik site.
Thanks for your help.

It looks like this problem is due to an error with the installer that causes a directory reference to be incorrect. This should only affect 9x systems (due to problems with the strippath runtime library function), and results in the activated Kaspersky license not being found.

We expect to have a new build available soon that will address this problem, in the meantime the fix is to edit the registry. Please make sure that you back up your WinGate registry file before making any changes. For instructions on backing up the registry file see the following knowledge base article

Please open your registry editor and find the following key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Qbik Software\Key Management\Products\Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate]

If you click on this folder you'll see the following in the right hand pane:

"Key Store"="SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\License Manager\Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate"
"ProductID"=dword:00000004
"Product"="Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate"
"Key Folder"="C:\Program Files\WinGatePlugins\Kaspersky AntiVirus"
"Key Root"=hex:02,00,00,80
"ProductVersion"=dword:00000200

Check the "KeyFolder"string, notice that it's referring to a directory called WinGatePlugins, this is due to a missing backspace. There is no such directory, it should be the Plugins folder in the WinGate directory. So the fix is to simply add a single backslash between WinGate and Plugins.

So you'll have
"Key Folder"="C:\Program Files\WinGate\Plugins\Kaspersky AntiVirus"

After you have made this change please restart the WinGate engine, then reactivate your Kaspersky license.
