Unable to obtain interface for Kaspersky Antivirus

Feb 07 16 7:15 am

I have a scheduled task to run within WinGate to update the definitions for the antivirus at certain times. However, when I look at system messages it shows an error message "Unable to obtain interface for Kaspersky AntiVirus for Wingate".
My configuration is Windows 7 x64 with Wingate 6.6.4 and Kaspersky AntiVirus 3.04.

The licence file is still in date and valid.

How do I stop this error from showing and what is the fix?

Hi

most likely the kaspersky labs-supplied key expired. Unfortunately Kaspersky Labs (who we license the scanning engine from) have their own key system as well.

WinGate 7 onwards keeps this key file up to date, but WinGate 6.x didn't.

If you download the file

http://www.wingate.com/updates/Kaspersky.key

And use it to replace the existing Kaspersky.key file, which is probably in some folder called Bin under the Kapersky Plugin folder

Then restart WinGate.

Many thanks. Visited the page and downloaded the file and all is working again.

Thank you

I guess this is a check I have to every year (or until I update to the latest version)

yes, sorry!

The key file should last a couple years.

That version 6.6.4 is getting old by now...
