Plans to upgrade/enhance Gatefilter?

Postby saubrey » Sep 15 03 1:45 pm

The theory behind GateFilter is great, but in practice it doesn't work very well. It blocks sites that have absolutely nothing to do with sex/gambling and worse it doesn't block sites that should. It seems that GateFilter is too easily fooled. Are there plans to implement content filtering based on black/white lists maintained by some central service? Unless the AI built-into GateFilter improves dramatically from what I am currently using, GateFiler is not very useful. Are there plans enhance or upgrade the content filtering plug-in to Wingate?

Hi, Absolutely. We are looking into a second version of GateFilter with much extended filtering capabilities.

This will include smarter filtering and additional categories.

We dont currently have a ETA on this, but when we do we will let you know on the forums.

Update on this:
We have talked with iCognito who provide the AI technology behind GateFilter. They are happy for us to ship this immediatly, so in the next few days we will have a new version available.
