This is not the normal kind of problem, and hence it is challenging to troubleshoot, its a bit of trial and error I am afraid.

On the wingate server, please open up internet explorer, and set the proxy to the localhost, to see if the proxy is working at all.

Also, on your router, are their any other IP address settings we should know about?

thanks...i think i had the solution under my nose and i was looking far ahead...as the saying goes " i was barking at the wrong tree"...

i just found out that the clients were not using proxy...so i set them up to use it...and it worked just fine

again thanks for the help...it did taught me alot...
