Install Problems

Postby Hopkinsmailing » Dec 13 05 11:10 am

I'm getting an error "The systems cannot find the device or file" and then the next screen shows "Internal Error 2755 110 C:\program files\wingate\puresight2.msi (or Exe I've tried both). Any ideas on what might be the problem. Wingate 6.1.1 build 1077 installed just fine.

This is not an installer problem. Suggestions through Google seems to be that the temp folder on the machine in question is encrypted and that unencrypting it will resolve the issue.

Have a look through some of these results, they seem to all indicate that type of scenario and unecnrypting the temp folder worked in most cases.

(Particularly this one and this one)

Just an update, we received an email from Hopkinsmailing that this was in fact the problem, and the resolution was as follows:

I reset security on c:\ for
everyone to have full permission. During the time Windows was updating every
child folder/file it came across the c:\winnt\installer with error messages
that I didn't have permission to change security on this folder. When it
finished with the rest I went onto that folder via Windows Explorer and
found the owner to be SYSTEM and as the ADMINISTRATOR I had no permission to touch security on this folder. What I could do, however moronic this is, was to claim ownership as ADMINISTRATOR. I ran Puresight2 and it installed just fine.
