DHCP non-private address

Postby codeman8611 » Sep 29 11 10:57 am

Hello.

In Wingate 6 there was a check box to "Allow allocation of non-private addresses" in the DHCP settings. I don't see this option in Wingate 7 and I need it. Will it be there in the future?

Thanks.

Hi

did you need it so you could turn it off or on? I think it's always on now. Control over allocation is now more a function of what adapters and scopes you set up - didn't seem to make sense any more.

I need it to be "on" because our "private" internal addresses 192.20.20.* are considered to be "public" by Wingate and therefore cannot be allocated to a DHCP client.

HI

looks like it's still in there, and is set to off by default. In the meantime as a workaround you can turn it on in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\DHCP

REG_DWORD "AllowAllocatePublicIPs" set to 1.

if you're on a 64 bit machine, it's under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\DHCP

You'll need to stop WinGate first.
