HTTP Cache Volume Problem with Latest UPDATE

Postby sawi » Dec 22 11 7:23 am

Wingate 7.0.5.3355
after doing update, my 10GB volume become 2GB

1st thing I go to release note, maybe latest fix limit every cache volume only to 2GB, but nothing mention about it in relase note.
so I decide to empty all the cache, drop all table......
after wingate restart, default volume = 1GB
I try to increase default volume to 5GB, but after restart wingate, it will automatically turn back to 1GB

it's something wrong to my setting? or with the latest update?

Hi

I found the problem, we're doing yet another build to fix it.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

For some reason, MS Jet / MDB driver started reporting different sizes / precision for REAL and DOUBLE types. We use this information to select the best DB type to store large numbers in, such as:

* cache volume max size
* cache volume size
* cache entry file size
etc

We think this behavioural change was probably triggered by something we changed in the initialisation of the database connection. Most odd.

So since they started reporting precision of 23 for REAL instead of 14, we started using REAL instead of DOUBLE, and that created lots of problems. This caused code changes that then affected other DBs as well.

We tested yesterday cache and timeline on MDB, MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL, but unfortunately didn't test with large volume sizes or I would have seen this problem.

So unfortunately this has resulted in a nightmare of 3 releases in 3 days. Just before Christmas too.

Apologies for this. Hopefully everything is ironed out now. We'll triple check today.

many error show in my logs...
Code: Select all
{CacheVolume::RemoveEntry} UPDATE query failed [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver][mysqld-5.5.8-log]BIGINT UNSIGNED value is out of range in '(`wg_cache`.`cache_volume`.`files` - 1)'

update : after few investigation, I saw above error will appear when using volume on another partition/disk. (default pause or using as last volume in order)
But it will not appear when using default volume

-------
after last problem, my internet bandwidth increase because lost all my cache.
i think want remove my sql, using default cache engine/storage, it's with latest MS Jet / MDB driver update support heavy usage?

Hi

that looks like when an entry is removed, where we updated the stats on the volume in the DB to show the new size and number of files.

I wonder if the file count for the volume record reached 0 already.

It's a cosmetic issue only, but we'll look into it in more detail when we're back from our Christmas holidays.
