Help Wingate 5.2.3 to Wingate 6.0

Postby dtan83 » Aug 03 04 3:36 pm

Hi there,

I just updated my Wingate 5.2.3 to the new version 6. And now the internet doens't appear to be working on all the wingate clients.

I assumed that the updage would not make any registry changes....

Thanks

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The update will make registry changes as it upgrades you to the new format of binding, etc. The installer would've prompted you to backup your current registry, and should have done it automatically for you as well.

Things to check would be:

1. Under the Network Panel in GateKeeper - ensure that your adapters are configured for External vs Internal properly.

2. Under the bindings for each service, make sure that there are appropriate binding policies setup.

Hi Derek

Yes, we made some changes to the way 3 things in particular work. These are:

1. the bindings (which now use a policy for automatic creation, rather than being statically assigned).
2. The Gateways tab per service, which replaces the old "interfaces" tab.
3. Assumed adapter usage may have changed for adapters with default gateway settings.

We do issue a warning to check these things in the installer, but perhaps we need to be a bit clearer, it is a bit difficult to get that text to stand out very well.
