WingateHelp v6.0

Postby mikebos » Aug 05 04 2:19 pm

Hi All,

My v6 of Wingate help is not key word searchable, is it my settings?

Cache server info seems to be missing.

I'm trying to solve a Logfile Server remote caching problem.

I know LAN traffic can avoid cached Logfiles by including Wingate:8010 in proxy exceptions but how do you avoid cached Logfiles from remote queries.

Thanks & Regards
Mike Bos.

Hi Mike,

Just with regards to the helpfile question:

The released version does not have searchable help. It's already been added and will be included in the next maintenance release. I do have your email address - do you want me to post a copy of it out to you so long ? (Help file only)

Hi Pascal,

I'd appreciate you sending the searchable help. I noticed Outlook grabs *.chm files as well, so if you can change that when you send it I'll change it back again.

Any updates on the caching question would be great too.

I had a brief look into the caching issue, but nothing jumped out. So my first question was going to be - who do you want to prevent from caching that ? WinGate or the appropriate client's browser ?

Logfile caching

Postby mikebos » Aug 05 04 7:04 pm

Hi Pascal,

Thanks for the WingateHelp file, it works well, I missed being able to search it.

Re:Caching Logfiles

I have set up scheduler to export user accounts to a file called UserStats.xls hourly and apend UserAccounts.xls and reset monthly. IE usually uses Excel to open automatically.

I've set Logfile server to any IP and Interface so we and users can retrieve traffic stats from anywhere.

LAN users set IE Proxy Server exceptions to wingate:8010 Remotely we always get the file first remotely accessed even if we clear IE history of click refresh.

I have set cache to 0 html 0 others and policies not to cache from server port 8010 to nil effect.

Any Ideas

Regards
