Problem sending external emails

Postby eboz » Oct 06 04 10:55 pm

We are an internal email server 192.1.0.1 and wingate is 192.1.0.5.

We have SMTP proxy setup on port 25 with support outbound mail via ISP server ticked with the smtp.isp.com on port 25 as the settings.

Bindings are allow connections coming in on any interface.

The policy is everyone is granted access with default rights may be used instead. I have also tried default rights are ignored.

But this does not send any external email out.

The following is from the smtp proxy server log
10/06/04 19:57:08 192.168.0.1 admin 0000000032 Traffic 0 0 0 0 1s

THis use to work, but no longer works for the external email

What version of WinGate are you using? Is the SMTP Server (on the System tab in Gatekeeper stopped)?

From your mail server try telneting out through WinGate and see what gets reported back in the telnet client, as this will probably point to where the problem is.

Version 5.2.3 Build 901 we are using.

We have never used the SMTP Server on the System Tab. We used the SMTP Proxy Server on the Services tab and this service is started.

WE are receiving emails OK, just can't send them out.

From our email server I telnet our email server OK. From our email sevrier I telnet the gateway and get the message Connection Failed Connection refused by remote host.

From wingate I can telnet our email server OK. From wingate I telnet the gateway and get the messaged connection failed.
