Email with Outlook Express on Windows 98

i'm using wingate 5.0 connected on windows 2003 server. my client is PC is using windows 98, outlook 98. They can't retreive and send mail. how can i configure the PC to use POP3 and SMTP server?

Hi,

It it possible to configure any client to proxy via Wingate for POP3 mail.

Just use on each client: username#isppop.mail.server format and the POP server:port as Wingate eg: 192.168.12.1:110

That way you can have unlimited numbers of client / server connections.

Ok if a client has a username of: abc123@isp.com for example.

To use the proxy from any client in say Outlook's account area [from memory as I don't use any MS clients myself].

POP Server: [insert IP of Wingate here]
SMTP Server: [insert IP of Wingate here]

Accountname: abc123@isp.com#mail.isp.com

That should be all for each account.

Previously, we can send email using the 3rd Scenario of wingate guide. Now, we receive error message from Windows 98 client. What seems to
be the problem? Wingate 5.0.7 is installed on Windows 2003 Small Business Server. Need help in details because i'm new in administering wingate.

Error when sending email using outlook express:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Fw: Hello Insan', Account: 'Evelyn T. Cueva', Server: 'mail.anflogroup.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'front8@attglobal.net'. Subject 'from emie aguirre', Account: 'mail.anflogroup.com', Server: 'mail.anflogroup.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
