What port number was the server configured on? If it was not port 21, then the driver/NAT would not pick up the secondary channel creation - you need to proxy this connection.

i turned windows firewall off and it works but i wanted to keep windows firewall on!
ftp proxy server is on port 21, www proxy server is on port 1111, and socks server is on port 1080.
the ftp im trying to connect to is on port 21, it should work on passive but the ftp only allows port!
how can i make this work?
thx

You have found yourself in the rather sticky situation where you have a firewall product installed which is blocking the incoming connection. WinGate will automatically open a hole in it's firewall for that type of connection - but it does not control other firewalls.
Try running it in passive mode?

Hold on - you have Wnidows firewall on, right? It might simply block the connection back from the server even though Wingate is prepared to accept it - you have to shut Windows firewall down then.
Dec 13 04 5:24 pm
but without wingate the windows firewall didnt block this before!
isnt there some setting that can resolve this matter, without turning the win firewall off?
thx for all the help :)

Because Wingate might change the port number for better internal port distribution and Windows firewall cannot notice it.
Dec 13 04 5:28 pm
so is there any way i can know the port wingate is using and open it on the windows firewall?
Dec 13 04 5:28 pm
Normally - no.

From the FlashXP homepage:
Flash FXP FAQ wrote:A: There are two possible reasons.
1. You are behind a firewall and the FTP server is unable to connect to your computer. To resolve this issue you need to use Passive mode. This option is located in Preferences on the Proxy tab. Check "Use Passive mode".

i opened the port it was trying to use on win firewall and now connects, but it doesnt transfer, stays always at 0k/s!
is there a wingate version without firewall?
or can i turn firewall off at the last version?
thx :P

It's not the
WinGate firewall - it's the
Windows firewall that is blocking your traffic. You can turn the WinGate firewall off by going into "Extended Networking" and unticking the firewall option there. (Setting it to disabled).

However, that is reasonably unlikely to solve your problem - because, as you indicated - when you turn the
Windows firewall off, your ftp activity succeeds.
From what we've been able to learn by reading Flash FXP's FAQ and support information, running their application in passive mode will resolve these problems.

That gives you a good explanation of the differences, etc. and why / how the different modes work.
