VPN through Linux gateway

Postby Ekkas » Apr 21 05 7:37 pm

Client has 2003 server (with AD) IP 10.0.0.3 with Linux machine (10.0.0.254) as a proxy server. I need to set up VPN on 2003 machine a.s.a.p.

Please help on how this must be done. I've been using Wingate proxy for 5 years now,but never used VPN.

Thank you

All you need to do is to open two firewall holes if this 2003 machine is to be used as Wingate VPN server. If it is a client (i.e. it initiates the connection) then the only thing to do is to allow TCP and UDP traffic from this machine outside - VPN uses port 809 by default (both TCP and UDP). For the server role you have to redirect TCP and UDP traffic coming from the outside to this 2003 machine - if you let me know what firewall software you are using on the Linux side, I might be able to configure it - iptables, for one, is quite easy.
