local web request is not bypassing the proxy.

Hi everybody,
I am running wingate 5.23 .I am having problem bypassing the proxy server for the local website.The settings under IE on the client part is done ( to bypass the local traffic) and also I modified the host file telling the 10.10.x.x is the web server.
Unfurtunatly nothing work I am wundering if is ther a settings on the wingate proxy where I can deny access to the local traffic and reroute it localy.

First of all, our latest version is 6.0.4, so you may want to update your installation sometime in the near future. Your 5.2.3 license will still work with 6.0.4.

Now that said... I just quickly tested, and I am wondering if you have not set up IE correctly. To bypass local addresses you must have a http:// in the front of the address / domain name... e.g http://10.10.* as shown in image.

Hi ,
As I said this setting is done.I have upgrade to 6.04 version ,checked again the IE settings in the GPO and win 98 PC's under IE setting and unfortunatly nothing work.I tried with http://10.10.10.* , www.mydomain.ca,*.mydomain.ca,mydomain.ca.I still can see under history the traffic trough the proxy server.Any sugestion would be helpfull.

By the way I have under Activity tab the following message and I dont know what exactly means. DNS: A lookup "webserver.mydomain.com".
This is a trafic trough proxy server or not ?

i am having the same problem with Stefan.
i installed version 6.0.4 trail version. after i install my client and server cant access to local web site.
in proxy properties, what is exception address? what is "http://10.10.*.*"?
all the setting, i already tried, exception the "exception" part.
can i know what is proxy server? i am nood. my friend teach me all setting (except the "exception" part), but i dont know the meaning.


127.0.0.1 is server ip address, isnt it?

There are a few differnet ways to do the bypass proxy servers, and have just been informed just placing the ip address in is the best way ( no http:// ... ; just 10.10.10.* ... soz about that.)

I am not sure why your settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer are not getting bypassed, unless maybe you are using NAT or the WinGate internet Client...

Also, check your Host file setting by pinging the address you placed in.

Any one else got some ideas?

i used WinGAte Server, there is no problem with pinging the address i placed in.

my client and server have no problem to access internet, just have problem to access local Web :(

the IP address is Server IP address
i name it to http://server/

if i wrong answer ur question, can u teach me how to find out the answer u wan? i mean where can i find out with what command?

to find out the "server" ip address...

For Windows XP / 2000 / NT
(Windows) Start Menu --> Run --> cmd --> ping server

For Windows 9x
(Windows) Start Menu --> Run --> command --> ping server

it will come back with a message along the lines of:
Pinging server [192.168.9.1] with 32 bytes of data:

The IP address returned, in my case 192.168.9.1, needs to be added it to the exception tab of the IE explorer settings as shown above. That should bypass your proxy for the local server.

This is a trafic trough proxy server or just acknowlege and is bypassing?

A request has been sent to the WinGate server to find out the IP address for that domain name. So I spose we can say it is traffic.
