Two connections and wingate problem

Postby badsykes » Jun 17 05 6:10 am

Hello
I have 2 cable modems fused with wingate.To use both connections on the same file a multithreading client must be used..I configure corectly all stuff i see the bandwidth double now (256kbps to 512kbps--this is my country unfortunetly every Kb counts) and after a while one connection lose the transfer and the other continue to transfer without a problem..To reactivate again the second pipe i must press "stop" button and "resume" again ...it's pretty stressful..Anyone can help me with an idea.Btw i have the latest oficial wingate version 6.04 (1025).

Thanks

Stop/Resume button on the Multithreading Client? Or do you have to stop and start WinGate?

hello
Thanks for the reply.Let's explain how i fused the connection to be more clear.I create a proxy on the local loopback 127.0.0.1 with the port of my choice (now is 1111) doesn't matter and every cable connection must be setup with a static ip adress in order to work.The service i use is "www proxy" and add the interfaces one by one and after all programs that i asume can benefit from this multiple connections i put them on the proxy.(Azureus,web-browsers,Flashget,Dap).I must stop and resume the download in the multithreading client everytime one of the interfaces losse the connection.I use DAP7.4 for this.My NIC cards are pretty good in my opinion:
-one 3com 905B tx connected to a Terayon Tj715x Cable modem (provisioned by me with the latest firmware from terayon)
-Intel 10/100s connected to a Webstar Epx2203 (i don't have control over it's firmware because is in custody from my ISP when i bought the service)

Thanks

So ...

[Clients] -> [Multithreading client] -> [WinGate] ?

or

[Clients] -> [WinGate] ?

or

[Clients] -> [WinGate] -> [Multithreading client] ?

[clients]--[wingate]--[multithreading client]

Wingate creates the background for all things: the proxy i mean and fuse the connections by rotating the ip's...In the Binding Policy section i use "Bind only to 127.0.0.1 on MS Tcp Loopback interface"..When it comes to Gateway section: I add both connections and select the static ip adress and gateway and i select "Use all specified connection in rotation" and i use DAP to connect to the same file server but with 2 or more Ip's at once via wingate...You know that a multithreading client connect with the same multiple times to the same server..The diference is now i connect with two ip's multiple times to the same server...Thanks

Ok. Now, the other piece of the puzzle - what do you have to stop/start to get functionality going again?

Ok. But what do you stop?

WinGate?
The internet connection?
The multi-threading client?

Depending on what is stopped/started the resolution / investigation might be different.

I must stop/resume the multithreading client and NOT the wingate engine or other wingate things...I need to stop and start the download again...this i done every time when one from two connections lose transfer

Wingate only creates the posibility to load balance the connections.
So after configuring the wingate will remain in tray all time and creates the portal for Multithreading client to use both connections.

So ... theoretically speaking the problem could lie within the multi-threading application and not within WinGate?

Have you tried removing that client from the setup to test that way? (Just to see if that makes a difference to the problem)
