Banning

Postby plugandpray » Jun 28 05 2:44 am

We use Wingate through a T1 connection, and we have a simple peer-to-peer network that uses a standalone PC as our Wingate server. I have our users set up as "assumed" in Wingate. I can't get the "Ban Server" function to work. In Gatekeeper, I can right-click on the URL a user is accessing & choose "Ban Server thus and so", but it doesn't work. The URL will appear on the "Ban List", but users can still access it! What's wrong?

Hi,

This looks like a bug that we've found, this should be fixed for the next release.

In the meantime you can ban access to URLs in the WWW proxy service by creating a ban list. You can right click the URL in the activity screen and copy to the clipboard.

Open the WWW proxy service and create a new policy for everyone
Select the ban list tab and check the box "enable ban list"
Click the add button
Select this criterion is met if
HTTP URL
contains
paste the URL

This will ban access to the specified URL.

We still don't have a firm date for release, but it shouldn't be more than a couple of months away.
