Hi Dins,
No I can't log into the Gatekeeper. It asks for user name/password or use windows login. I don't have the first (to my knowledge) and the second doesn't work. I have tried my home network user name and password without success (same as windows login?). Is there something else I should be using or should have done/supplied in the set up?
The default username and password for WinGate is:
Username: Administrator
Password:

If you are unable to login with that, please have a look at
this knowledgebase articleTo use your Windows username and password, you will need to log into GateKeeper with the above username and password, then change the "Datebase Options" to use the local Windows user database (please note, if you use this, you will require to have each users login credentials added into your local Windows users database... if in doubt, just use the default WinGate database until you have it all set up correctly. More configuration can come later.)

I'm not at my set up right now (it's at home, I'm at work). So I'll look into the proxy thing tonight. But I don't know what you mean by the "driver".
Proxies are an easy way to test if the WinGate machine is sharing the internet connection. If you would like to have similar benefits to ICS, you will want to use NAT; more on that below.
When Matt said "Really it would be ideal if you reinstalled and selected the driver, " He means, reinstall Wingate with the ENS option ticked. Sure this means the firewall is added, but you can disable that. The two best thing about having the ENS installed is:
1. It allows you to use NAT. NAT is good because you do not have to configure individual application with any special settings. You add it once into the client computers TCP/IP settings, and that is it. You can stil utilise benefits of proxies (caching, virus scanning, content filtering), but we can get to that if you ask about it. More information on setting up NAT can be found in
this post.
2. It allows you to use WinGates VPN (Virtual Private Network), which can either
a) be a way to join two internal networks together over the internet
b) allow a mobile user to connect into their home network as if they were plugged directly into its LAN (Local Area Network)
From first post:
I am running norton internet security and anti virus on all machines so didn't install ENS.
If you are having any problems, I suggest you disable Norton IS for the sake of testing; you could leave the WinGate firewall up to protect your machine while doing your configuration. The virus scanner should be ok to be left active.
Let us know how you get on.
