Wingate 6.0.4 : some native services don't work !

Postby Simbad » Aug 08 05 9:53 pm

Hello,
i use the 5.2.2 version (it work very good) and i try the 6.0.4, but some of services didn't work plenty :
like the WWW or SMTP (not internal mail server) services (contrary of the POP3 service which works perfectly)
in the history screen, i can see the request from one computer like :
SMTP:
or
http://
and not a complete attempt (as SMTP:smtp.provider.com or http://www.qbik.com) and after the timeout, no response !
i think it is a little mismatch in configuration
I installed with all default screen
more precision : this services (WWW, SMTP) didn't work only when ENS is installed ans active.
I search the way to be good but i didn't find, could you help me.
FRL

PS : the proxy computer is connected to a DSL in a network of 20 computers on XP system (with internal firewall disable)

Hi,

Usually when you see the http:// and then no URL it indicates that you have a DNS problem.

You say this only happens when you use ENS, this indicates that perhaps your network adapter usage is not set properly. With WinGate 6 we added dynamic bindings, so now WinGate looks at an adapter and determines whether it is a LAN adapter or an Internet adapter. Any adapter with a private IP address will be deemed as internal, and public IP addressed adapter will be external and therefore firewalled. Please check the network tab in GateKeeper and make sure that your internet adapter is marked as external. If you need to change it, just double click the adapter to open a properties dialogue box.

hello
i use private IP for the local network (192.168.70.X and 71.X for computers, 192.168.70.1 the the network card of the proxy)
the DSL adapter is recognized as external, and the netword card as internal, i use fixed IP adress for the computers, the hosts file stored on the proxy contain the machine name
what type of DNS problem could i have ?
