Having now got ADSl, it offers me an opportunity I did not have before.
I would like to be able to access my home server (but not network) from home. For email, gatekeeper & possibly FTP. I realise I can open ports on the firewall but am not happy that they are open for one and all.
My access is from my works computer on a defined (and public) IP address. Is there any way I can open a port and perform source address checking so that I try to ensure its only me gaining access using wingate?
Cheers,
Neil

Yes, you can set up a policy which check the source IP address of the new connection. Your other alternative might be Wingate VPN, where you can connect your two computers seemlesly.

Hi Genie,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I cant justify VPN for the usage I will give it.
I can see how to open the ports up as I have done it before but the only opions appear to be an unconditional allow, deny or redirect but not how the check incoming source address.
Could you give me a quick Step 1,2,3 and I'll take it from there.
Many thanks,
Neil

Aye, you have to change/create policy for ENS handling - add a recepient everyone and apply location restriction policy

Neil,
You might consider also authenticating remotely via GateKeeper. Then set up access policy based on authenticated user. This could be in addition to IP location policy. Just a thought.
