Can't Login to Gatekeeper

Postby Iqbal » Oct 03 05 10:58 pm

Hi,
Recently i can't login to Gatekeeper. Error says something like : can't receive data from domain (somthing like that). But internet connection still running well. The Wingate uses domain autentication for user to browse to internet.
Anyone can help me how i can login to gatekeeper as usual ?
FYI : WinGate ver 6.04

Can you post the exact error message that you see when you're trying to log on?

Is "log on to Local Machine" checked on the login box? If you uncheck this and enter 127.0.0.1 and port 808 what happens?

Hi,
Sorry for late update.

The exact error message is : There was a problem connecting to the server. No data was received from the server during authentication. Check the spelling of your user name.

I have tried to uncheck logon to local machine. But it doesn't work ?
Pls help me ...

Hi

that normally means WinGate has hung for some reason.

See http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=4110 for steps you should take.

Hi

When you are authenticating against a remote user database, there are some requirements

WinGate service (in control panel, administrative tools, services) must be configured to log in under a domain administrator account.

Are you ever able to log in? Or does it work ok at first then stop some time after?

Hi, Thanks for your quick prompt. Win gate service is running under domain admin account. One thing for sure, i can login to gatekeeper normally. I just find out now, that my friends has activated option in database synchronisation : synchronise entire database when administrator log in.
Since he activated that option, i can't login to gatekeeper. Before he add that option, we only activated option : synchronise individual users when they log in for first time.
Maybe that's the problem. How i can remove option that my friend has activated ?

OK, to change this, edit the registry.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Qbik Software\WinGate\UserDatabase

there is a value called "UserScanOptions"

try setting that to 8.

You'll need to stop WinGate first.

I checked that registry value for user scan options is 10. I try to change that later in the afternoon, after office hour. I let you know

10 means scan on login(2) (i.e. when an admin logs in) and synch individual users when they log in for the first time(8).

Hi

There were some problems with 6.0.1, you should try upgrading to 6.1.0
