Automating changing a password for a user.

Postby graemeevans » Oct 22 05 4:15 am

We use wingate 5.2.0 and have the password for a user changed 3 times a day. 0900 1100 and 1300hrs. this is done manually. is there a way this can be automated? maybe in the scheduler? or if we can have the way that the password is encrypted we could just make something to encrypt preset passwords for it to automatically change at the times we want.

thanks

Hi Graeme

How is it determined what the password will be changed to?

can this be programmed, or is it chosen by the administrator?

there is a command-line interface to WinGate through the telnet proxy. this I believe can be used to change user passwords (I think).

Normally we just decide randomly the password. these are written into a word document for others to pick up and give to students if they wish to have internet access for that time. it could be pre setup for the week and then scripted to change the password at the preset times. i will investigate the telnet command prompt interface.
