bridging 2 modems?

Hello!

Can I use Wingate to bridge data coming at modem1 to modem2, and data for modem2 to modem1? I mean I want to set up a kind of a modem repeater, keeping minimal data changing during interchange.
What should I do for that?

I mean data received by modem1 resending on through modem2, and data received by modem2 resending on through modem1.

How should I configure Wingate for that?

It depends on what kind of routing you are talking about - say, you have default routye set through modem2 with inbound connection from modem1 - if you have a proxy server bound on modem1, then you can route an outbound traffic for this proxy through modem2.

Do you want to do something like this - have an open proxy? Or do you want to allow your clients to use dial-in connection and route them out through another modem?

Yes, the second thing, I want to route dial-in user (modem1) out through another dial-out line (modem 2).
And, if possible, I want to make this "transfer" for any kind of channel-layer, whether it is ppp, slip, hdlc or something else. I am hardly sure if it is possible, so it would be great to make it for common ppp at least...

There is nothing special about this functionality - mark modem1 as an internal one and modem2 as an external one - that's pretty much it.

As far as I understand, Wingate's routing functionality bases on TCP/IP ports, so someone needs writing a number of routing rules for every service (port). But how can I do this for any kind of traffic? despite of data type being routed - is it an internet traffic or just a hyperterminal connection?

The way I suggested makes Wingate NAT packets from an interrnal adapter to an external adapter - just like if modem1 was an internal LAN card.
