Upgrading PC, keeping Wingate config

Postby pgr » May 02 06 5:43 am

Hi,

I'm running the latest version of Wingate server on an old Win2000 PC. I have lots of configurations, users, etc.

I'm thinking of using a new PC as Wingate server to get some additional performance and Windows XP. Is there an easy way to transfer the complete Wingate configuration from the old PC to the new one? I mean, something like copying a config file, or some registry branch?

Thank you
pgr

Hi,

You may export you registry file for the Wingate server and migrate it to the new Wingate server. You will also need to deactivate you license key from the old server before reactivating it on the new server.

To export the registry file:

If you can log in to GateKeeper-
go to the options>advanced menu
click the button Save Registry Settings
save the registry file and attach it to your email

If you cannot log in to GateKeeper-
open the registry editor
find the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software
go to the Registry menu and select export registry file
save it somewhere handy and send that over to your new server.

You can deactivate the license yourself from within the License Manager, just highlight the license and click the deactivate button. A connection will be made to our activation server and the license will be deactivated, you will then be able to move the license to a new server.

You might want to review your server migration before you proceed to ensure you do not run into any problems.

Regards
Roderick
