Was my wingate hacked ?

Postby jonifresh » May 04 06 7:06 am

HELP NEEDED PLEASE

From what i've read Wingate sounds like a real good bit of kit.
It would be ideal for our small business to use for web filtering and emails.

I installed it at home trialing out wingates latest version for test purposes.
after a few hours of setting up and reading i finally got it working.

I left my computer on over night and in the morning i discoverd that several users were connected to the wingate server, I wasn't quite sure what was going on but looking at the activity about 6x different ip address's logged on and requesting websites / porn etc.

I immediately shutdown wingate server and restarted my computer. soon as i logged on the mistery connections were there again.

I've not messed around with any settings and my computer is connected through a nat router so how come the server was open to any chum who knows my ip address.

Any info would be sound - I've removed wingate services untill i can understand what's going on.

Thanks

Hi,

Do you have www Proxy setup? You might want to check your binding as binding to the external adapter may cause these problems. Your may want to submit a support request. You can do that here.

The support team will investigate further into this issue.

Best regards
