Nero 7 autoupdate

Postby jazzzz » Oct 18 06 3:35 pm

Has anyone figured out how to get Nero updates to work through Wingate? I am using Kaspersky AV plug-in too and I can't get Nero anti-virus to update nor will autoupdate even load for Nero; it states I am not connected. That said I do use ENS and I do have custom settings on specific ports in the firewall. However, if I disabled ENS and the firewall I still can't get Nero to do any autoupdates.

The only Bindings I have are for my wingate machine and the loopback. In IE I have my FTP setting set to port 21 and my socks to 1080 all others are port 80. I can FTP to other sites without any problems therefore I conclude I need the magic bullet for Nero. I searched the web to see if there is a port I need to open or what but I am coming up empty any ideas? Also in the plug-ins for Kaspersky I am allowing every known Nero address because I thought that was the problem. My OS is Windows XP and this is the ONLY program that has me stumped.

No, I checked that already but thanks for the thought. No activity at all when I attempt to run Nero 7 update but I did get the AV plugin working. All I receive is a message stating I am not connected to the internet.

I still can't get Nero 7 autoupdate to work, I keep receiving a message that I have no connection to the internet but I do and I am. Here is what Nero tech support emailed me and I tried everything I can to get a connection but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

=============================================
Nero needs the ports between 1100-1200 and the FTP Port 21 to make a proper connection.
So please adjust your Firewall or Router so, that these ports are free.
If you have installed a software Firewall you have to allow the setupx.exe access to the internet.
=============================================

I have port 21 available on FTP and I allowed access to ports 1100-1200 in ENS and I still get the no connection message. Please anyone HELP!

Hi,

Is this on the Wingate server or a client?

Out of interest, when you try to connect what type of service is visible in GateKeeper's activity pane?

Just a thought, try debug logging of the service it tries to use / FTP is one, there could be a clue there perhaps.

Hello Wingate Guru this is on the server. When I check the wingate activity window nothing is happening nor is anything in the log. The Nero program doesn't recognize that I have a connection.

Let me mention I only have the trusted adapter available in all my Bindings, so IP addresses available are 192.168.0.1 and 127.0.0.1 all my other programs work with no problem and I have been using Wingate forever and this is the first one that has me stumped. Previous versions of Nero DID work this one doesn't. Also, the puzzler for me is if I open Nero to update the Anti Virus that works just fine and I do use ftp to manage a few web sites and it works fine on all of them.

Also I have KAV plugin installed if I disable it the Nero UPdate still doesn't work and if I disable ENS it doesn't work either.

Hi,

Well 'Guru' is a little levity on the part of the guys at Qbik.com I'd say, they are apparently tolerant enough to put up with my rantings! :-))

What happens if you change the system propeties for IE on the server to not use the proxy / blank setting?

Does it connect then by ignoring Wingate completetly?

I have Nero V6 and when I hit the upgrade button it takes me to a URL asking for money, so no use there in this old version.

No it tells me that there is no connection to the internet but there is. If I am able to use this update feature I can download just the items I need without it I have to download the entire program and that is over 200 mg in most cases.
